Keegan is a very accomplished player and coach and is an exemplary teacher of the game, providing effective skill demonstration to enhance visualization during the teaching process. He is a former national team player from Trinidad and Tobago and is in his fourth year as Assistant Coach at LIU Post. Keegan played for one year at Queens College of the City University of New York and transferred to Medgar Evers where he amassed numerous accomplishments competing in the North East Collegiate Volleyball Association (NECVA) including, Outside Hitter All-Conference and First Team All-Conference in 2005. Keegan brings a wealth of fundamental knowledge to Fundamental Volleyball Club and we are very excited to have him on board.

Jackie McKenna – Head Coach

Former Division I Volleyball Player

Four Long Island & Two NY State Championships (Played at John Glenn H.S.)

Jackie McKenna is a renowned former volleyball and basketball player from College of William & Mary’s Division I program in Virginia. Prior to her accomplishments with the “Tribe” Jackie played at John Glenn H.S., winning four Long Island Championships and two New York State Championships with The Knights. After graduating from College of William and Mary Jackie returned to Long Island and has worked at numerous volleyball camps and clinics as well as providing her technical expertise to kids at the Middle School, Junior Varsity and Varsity levels. Jackie has been a critical contributor to our volleyball programs and we are proud to have her be a member of our coaching family. Jackie is currently a medical student at Stony Brook.

Mrs Jacquelin Klemp – Assistant Coach

Assistant Coach – LuHi’s Girls’ Varsity Team

Jacquelin grew up in Nassau County and began playing volleyball as a freshman at St. Anthony’s High School. She garnered a lot of coaching and playing experience at summer camps and with CYO teams. Over the last few years, Jacquelin rekindled her passion for playing and coaching by returning to the volleyball arena to play adult recreational and leagues games at various sports facilities on Long Island. In 2009, Jacquelin was hired as a Mathematics teacher at Long Island Lutheran Middle & High School (LuHi) where she met her husband, another math teacher. In 2013 Jacquelin was offered the position as Assistant Coach for LuHi’s Girls’ Varsity team and has made a meaningful contribution to the success of that program. Jaqueline joins our club’s coaching staff as an Assistant Coach and is very passionate about assisting with technical training, video analysis and examining statistical trends as it relates to individual and team strategies during practices, scrimmages and tournaments. Jacquelin received a Bachelor’s degree (’08) and a Master’s Degree (’12) in Secondary Education and Mathematics respectively from Molloy College.

Janiece Hill – Assistant Coach

Head Coach – St. Dominic High School Junior Varsity Team

Janiece joins our program for a second season, after achieving some significant accomplishments with last season’s 16 Elite team. Prior to joining our club program, she was an Assistant Coach for the women’s Volleyball team at Medgar Evers College. She garnered measurable experience with game scouting reports and analysis coupled with statistical analysis on players’ performance. Prior to coaching at Medgar Evers College, Janiece was a player and captain with the Cougars. In 2014 she earned the Most Outstanding Senior Award. Janiece is currently a Head Volleyball Coach at St. Dominic High School and continues to enjoy making significant positive differences in players’ athletic development. Janiece received a Bachelor’s Degree on Psychology from Medgar Evers College.

Shannon Scudder – Head Coach

Shannon joins our program’s coaching staff for her first season and comes from a reputable collegiate volleyball program. She graduated from General Douglas MacArthur High School in 2006 where she played varsity volleyball and softball. In her senior year, Shannon was given the 2006 Athletic Leadership Award. After High School, Shannon attended Oneonta State College for one year where she played softball and started 3b as a freshman. After one year, she transferred to Farmingdale State College where she became a two sport college athlete. On the softball field, she contributed to her team’s success in winning the Skyline Championship. On the volleyball court, Shannon played the Middle Hitting position and was a starter for the Rams. In her senior year, she led her team in service aces and was second in blocks. Shannon continues to be an active volleyball player. She competes in numerous women’s and coed volleyball tournaments and leagues throughout New York. Shannon received a Bachelor’s Degree in Visual Communications while successfully completing her two-sport career.

 

Samuel Daley – Head Coach

Samuel joins FVC after a splendid playing and coaching career. He was player for Dominica Men’s National Team from 1986 to 2002 and was captain for 13 years. In 1997,  Samuel was selected to play at the professional level in Switzerland with Club Kloton. Between 2013 and 2015 Samuel volunteered is coaching expertise to Medgar Evers College women’s volleyball program. Given his extensive accomplishments, we believe that Samuel will provide the continual technical and tactical training that fosters player development and the winning attitude.

 

FVC PROGRAMS

Fundamental Volleyball Club prides itself as being the most prestigious training program on Long Island. Having an elite coaching staff that includes USA Volleyball and FIVB Certified coaches makes us an elite club, comprising expert coaches that can nurture a fun and competitive learning environment for all our players. We accept players at all levels and our enthusiastic coaching staff is prepared to identify, evaluate, and select players for teams based on athletic related indicators which includes: skill execution, motivation, work ethic, leadership and athletic potential.

Our organization provides a myriad of programs to fit your needs. To better serve you, we provide Travel, Regional, and Local teams at various prices and very accommodating payment options (See Parent & Players Handbook for more details). Kindly, peruse our exciting program types and corresponding descriptions below.

To be selected to any of our club teams FVC requires that you participate in a tryout process.

Travel Teams (Ages 12-18)

This program consist of our most competitive Elite and Select travel teams. They are scheduled to practice twice a week and in some cases, 3 times a week to facilitate scrimmages with other interested club teams in our region. Our lead coaches, supported by their Assistant/s will design training sessions based on statistical analysis at practices and tournaments coupled with other indicators pertinent to the success of each team.  During the club season, our 16s, 17s, and 18s Elite and Select teams will participate in about 6-9 tournaments which includes 3 overnight tournaments and Regionals. Our Elite 13s, 14s, and 15s teams will participate in approximately 5-8 tournaments, including one or two overnights tournaments where applicable (See Parent & Player Handbook for more details).

Regional Teams (Ages 12-14)

Our Regional teams comprises 12s, 13s and 14s Select teams. Each team will practice twice a week and will participate in approximately 3-6 local tournaments including Regionals. We have also provided an option of adding a possible overnight tournament at an additional cost. The final decision will decided between the parents and coaching staff.  (See Parent & Player Handbook for more details).

Competitive Development Program (CDP) – (Ages 12-17)

Our Competitive Development Program caters to all players from ages 12 to 17 years that are unavailable to join a travel team, the affordability and convenience of learning and enhancing the fundamentals of the game with leading-edge training from our elite and experienced coaches. These non-travel players and teams will be engaged in practice once a week (2 hour sessions) for approximately 5 months, beginning December 1, 2016.  Scrimmages will also be set up to assess the growth of each player and the team as a whole. Recipients of this program are expected to understand, through demonstration, how each skill of the game is applied, perfect each skill through basic to advance drills, and eventually integrate all learning processes in team-oriented drills, strategies, and competition.

Junior Spikers (Ages 8-11)

This program is a great way to get your daughter started with club volleyball. It is designed to equip beginning players with the fundamental skills needed to play the game at a competitive level. Our expert coaches are also experienced players who are passionate about implementing fun game-like drills that will improve body awareness, depth perception, hand-eye coordination, balance and spatial awareness.

This Fundamental Program will also include:

  • Hand-eye development with the ball
  • Foot work and readiness
  • Body movement and ball work
  • Court related movement
  • Introduction to the Sport of Volleyball (Serve, Pass, Set, Spike, Block, Dig)
